Service Description

This summer, give your child the chance to explore their imagination through the art of clay! Our two-Session kids course is perfect for budding artists between ages of kids from 9 to 17 who are eager to learn the basics of ceramics in a fun, hands-on environment. Whether your child is a first-time sculptor or already loves to create, this course offers a fantastic introduction to hand-building and glazing. Session One: Hand-Building Basics In the first week, students will dive into the foundational skills of working with clay. Through guided projects and creative play, they’ll learn: Coil Building – Rolling and stacking clay coils to form bowls, pots, and unique sculptures. Slab Construction – Creating with flat sheets of clay to build boxes, wall hangings, or geometric forms. Pinching & Forming – Using just their fingers and imagination to shape one-of-a-kind pieces. Each child will design and build their own original clay masterpiece by the end of class, gaining confidence in their artistic abilities as they go. Session Two: Glazing & Finishing Touches Once their creations have been fired, it’s time to bring them to life with color! In week two, students will: Learn about the glazing process and how ceramic finishes work. Choose from a variety of food-safe, colorful glazes. Decorate and personalize their artwork, turning their clay forms into vibrant, finished pieces. By the end of the course, each student will have a completed, fully glazed ceramic artwork to proudly take home.
